I stumbled upon this post today, and it strikes me like so many coming from the MMA space often do. I am not saying it has to be the case, but removing this level of intimacy as a possibility is a step in the wrong direction. Martial arts is a way of life and to make it so, a deep bond must be created between student and teacher. This smacks of someone burnt out by the demands of leadership and looking for an easy way out of responsibility. This is why a new nest for progressively minded practitioners needs to be made--lest the next generation fall prey to these misguided ideologies.
